Anecdote
My brother gave my mother a mobility scooter, but it broke down before Christmas. It therefore falls to me to replace it, so that's what I've just done.
Hmm. It said the price was £669, which is pretty good for a mobility scooter, and it continued to do so right up to the point when it told me how much I had paid. That's when it added £133.80 VAT to make a total of £802.80, which isn't such a good deal.
Rather underhand of them, I thought.
