True to Form

Anecdote

I had my hair cut today. I gave them my usual instructions ("cut it so that when I come back in three months it will look just like this") and they gave their usual dismayed reply ("You want it cut above the ears?") but cut it anyway, despite obviously hoping it would grow faster and they could cut it every month and make more money.

When I got home, I spoke to my wife (at home because of expected nuclear attacks on London) and to my elder daughter, and neither of them noticed a thing. They had a good 10 minutes in my company before going off and doing their various things. Sure enough, the moment my younger daughter walked through the door back from school, it was, "Dad, have you had your hair cut?".

This happens every time.

My mother will notice immediately when I visit her tomorrow, too.
