Silver Linings

Comment

I didn't get to see Bringing Up Baby on Thursday. I intended to, but my mother's duodenal ulcer flared up and I had to take her to the hospital. I asked my wife to tape the movie, but she wouldn't. After all, she said, they repeat it every 10 or 12 years...

This morning, I opened a present from my wife in the belief that it was one of the computer games I'd bought for myself to make up 25% of my grand total, however it wasn't: it was a DVD of Bringing Up Baby. I was absolutely delighted!

Knowing it was my favourite film, she'd bought it several weeks earlier and hadn't been at all happy when she'd heard that it was going to be on TV. Thus, when I was unable to watch it, she was secretly quite pleased. OK, so my mum was hospitalised for the day, which wasn't so great, but it was a nice example of how every cloud has a silver lining.

My kids might not agree when I make them watch it tomorrow, mind you.
