Brepols 119

Anecdote

I bought some more playing cards for my collection.

These are by the Belgian firm Brepols of Turnhout, and are their number 119 patience pack. I don't know the exact date for them, but the pattern didn't come in until 1937 so they're not as old as the usual ones I acquire. They have a joker on a white background (later ones were on yellow), so they're probably from the 40s or 50s.

They cost just under £6, which is just as well as I wouldn't have paid much more for them. I did like their look, though, hence their addition to my collection.

There's a playing card museum in Turnhout that I'd like to visit some day, although I don't suppose I'd get to see much as my wife would be kicking and screaming the whole time. She's not quite as big a fan of playing cards as me and would have to be frogmarched inside.
