Anecdote
Those of you following the Christmas series of University Challenge will now know that although the Essex University team won its round, we didn't get enough points to make it into the semi-finals.
Actually, this rather suited us: it meant we went out undefeated, rather than by getting hammered by Magdalen College in the semi-final. That said, I was rather alarmed to discover that I knew large numbers of answers in the semi-final match shown yesterday, so if he had made it through we might actually have been able to put up a fight.
Have you noticed that whenever there's a question round concerning a topic people know little about, the only vaguely plausible answer that non-experts can think of is always the final one of the three?
