Dread Over

Comment

Well, the opening ceremony of the Olympics was pretty much as I expected in terms of its general direction: stuff that makes perfect sense to British people but would need a commentary in places for people from anywhere else to understand. The paeon to the NHS, for example, was probably going to nonplus the casual observer. Anyway, I watched it until Paul McCartney came on, then went to bed. He can't sing any more, so that section was guaranteed embarrassing until the crowd could take over with the NA na na NA-na na NA bit.

Technically, it went without a hitch except that the animatronic of Mohammed Ali wasn't working.

Judging by her enthusiasm when Team GB was parading, I think The Queen has probably been to events she found more interesting.
