Salzburg Vignette

Anecdote

We didn't go on any trips today because elder daughter Jenny had to cut her hols short to go attend some World Student Atheist conference in Oslo. Yes, Oslo: when I was in Stuttgart, Amy Winehouse was shot dead by a polar bear there or something. I think Jenny will be fairly safe, though.

The weather in Salzburg brightened up, at least in the sense that it stopped raining:

Here are some pics I've taken around Salzburg over the past few days.

"I'm going to have to cut my way out of this cage..."

"Psst! Wanna buy a cute turtle?"

These people have a clear view of who makes up their prospective customer base:

They're so brazen!

This is an Alpine dress with tartan flashes:

A bit of a cultural mash-up there.

Hey, look!

It's a Wedgwood house!

Ceci n'est pas une hammer:

You know how in German words are often combinedtomakeonebigword?

I took this in the window of an art gallery:

Artists — they're such jokers!

This photo is being used all over Salzburg to advertise an exhibition in the Modern Art gallery (minus my reflection):

Artists — they're such jokers!

Finally, this is the photo that the manager of a travel agency has on a poster on the door to lure people in:

File under "insincere smiles"...
