Hell

This is a die from Hieronymus Bosch's 500-year-old triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights:



As you can see, the numbers 5 and 2 are next to each other when they should be opposite each other. This is really annoying!

Ah, but maybe it's supposed to be annoying? That die features in the "hell" panel from the triptych, so perhaps it's there as a warning? Go to hell and you spend an eternity being irritated by dice that don't have opposite faces adding up to 7?

Well, it's certainly given me pause for thought. Maybe I shouldn't carry out any of my murderous plans, if that's the fate that ultimately awaits me?
