Hoys

Weird

There's a sign up in Colchester leading to a new housing development. Well, there are lots of such signs, always announcing sincere, quirky, computer-generated names such as "Kingswood Park", "Balkerne Heights", "Horizons" "Fortuna Park" and "Colne View" — nothing with the word "Road" in it.

Anyway, the new sign is to a development called "The Hoys". I've no idea where it is (it could even 10 miles away in Sudbury), nor where its name comes from (the Horse of the Year Show? The Old Man of Hoy?).

That doesn't make it bloggable, though. What makes it bloggable is that "hoys" is exactly how Prince Charles pronounces the word "house".
