Being Watched

Weird

There are CCTV cameras all over in Britain, and most people seem in favour of them. They lead to a reduction in crime and the conviction of more criminals.

There are police "road safety cameras" all over in Britain, and most people seem against them. They lead to slow-moving traffic and make enormous sums for the authorities.

The difference is, I suppose, that whereas most people don't commit muggings, burglaries and mob violence, most people do speed when driving.
