Weird

Overheard on the global channel of a virtual world last night:

Fan 1: Italy are World Cup champions!
Fan 2: What was the score?
Fan 1: 1-1. Italy won with penalties after overtime.

Ah, generic Americans, you have to smile sometimes...

[Er, for the benefit of generic Americans, there's no such thing as "World Cup champions", it's "World Cup winners", and even then the first line would be "Italy have won the World Cup". Also, you win "on" penalties, not "with" them, and it's "extra time", not "overtime", and especially not "OT", which someone used earlier in an effort to seem even more knowing.]

[Oh, and for the benefit of FIFA, this is not a cup. This is a cup.]
